The new business will also include a financial planning and advice arm led by Mark Johnson, an award-winning Chartered Financial Planner.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Grant, CEO, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe simply don\u2019t buy into the impediments that are often cited by other investment managers for not using investment trusts. Our research confirms we can build portfolios of a sufficient scale and diversity to satisfy our clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John Baron, Chair of the Investment Committee, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are focusing on investment trusts because of their superior performance relative to both unit trusts and the indices. Clients are already benefiting, and we now look forward to the next phase of the company\u2019s development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><u>Notes to editors<\/u>:<\/p>\n<p>As part of a soft launch, the company now has assets under management of \u00a330m<\/p>\n<p>By way of background, John is one of the UK\u2019s leading experts on investment trusts. He is best known to readers of the FT\u2019s Investors Chronicle Magazine for having successfully managed and reported on two real investment trust portfolios since 2009. He has also just completed the second edition of \u2018The Financial Times Guide to Investment Trusts\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Grant, an award-winning investment analyst, enjoyed a successful 20-year career in the City including spells at BZW, NatWest Markets, Deutsche Bank culminating in his appointment to the role of Head of European Investment Research for ABN AMRO. \u00a0Having left the City, Chris took up the voluntary role of Chairman of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Poynton is another member of the team.\u00a0 He was a professional cricketer for Derbyshire.
